This Near Mint 8-1/2" x 11" souvenir brochure actually unfolds to a colorful collage poster of Hall of Fame hurler, Jim "Catfish" Hunter. There’s no date printed on the publication, but in fact, the Yankees honored the veteran superstar before a Sunday afternoon game in 1979. His contract with the Steinbrenners was about to expire, and when he arrived on the Yankee roster in ’74 – after an illustrious career with the Athletics – he announced that he intended to retire five seasons hence. That day of Catfish tribute was celebrated on September 16th, and one admirer prevailed upon the great pitcher to autograph this program – which he did, in fine black felt tip on the cover. (The date for "Catfish Hunter Day" had been announced well in advance…but as tragedy would interpose, battery mate Thurman Munson perished in a plane accident only a month earlier.) The "trong>Jim ‘Catfish’ Hunter" signing appears against an optimally contrasting background; it’s cleanly legible and projects at a quality of "trong>9-10".
