1980-81 Ken Stabler Game-Worn Houston Oilers Jersey COA 100% Authentic TeamGo Back
Authentication Status: PASS
This is a 1980 Ken Stabler Game-Used Jersey. This Oilers jersey style, with the mesh shoulders, the portal mesh fishnet body and two-color tackle twill with sewn-on numerals is not the typical styled Oilers jersey the team wore. Primarily, we see the Oilers with screened on team name in the mid/late 70s and early ’80s.
However, they did use a set of jerseys like this in the 1980’s- Aug 24 vs. the Cowboys and September 28th vs. Cincinnati and perhaps a few more games. Reference AP Pic 808063199952 and AP 800824043 for style match.
The manufacturer label is glued into the back of the collar with the Houston Oilers Exclusivity tag. The flag tag Size “46” is also sewn into the manufacturer label and has unfrayed. Size “46” is acceptable for a Stabler gamer. Tags were glued on with the Raiders organization and some other NFL organizations during the 1977-79 eras. This is an early 1980’s season jersey and very well could have had the glued on tagging. Sand-Knit tagging is correct and appropriate for the era.
During this year, they wore the NOB sewn onto the back of the jersey as well as wearing NOB in pre-season. Upon careful review, nameplate and numeral stitch remnants have remained on the back of the jersey.
The wear and puckering throughout the numerals are evident and apparent which qualifies for decent use. Based on photo style, stitching NOB remnants on the back of the jersey, player size specifications, and wear, we would consider this as a Ken Stabler game-used jersey during the 1980 era.
