1980 Jim Palmer Baltimore Orioles Road Knit Pants

Arguably the Orioles’ greatest pitcher, Palmer pitched all or parts of 19 seasons with the club, winning 20 games eight times. These pants are late-career, from the 1980 season. Made by Wilson, they sport the manufacturer’s size 34 label in the waistband, adjacent to a 5 1/2“ gray knit swatch “22 80 28 3” indicating player number, season, inseam (apropos for the long-legged hurler, and set). The waistband is a colorful orange, white and black, and a similar braided stripe pattern runs the length of each leg. It has a working zipper and snap-button front with the button-down back pockets. There is evidence of subsequent minor league use, with a markered “61” on the label and minor indecipherable markings on the spec swatch, but the exterior remains in wonderful condition, rendering the pants displayable with any road Palmer knit of the late 70’s or early 80’s.
