1980 Johnny Bench Game-Worn, Signed Reds St. Patrick’s Day Jersey
Out of stock
Each year, teams sport special green outfits in recognition of St. Patrick’s Day. The first team ever to institute such a practice was the Cincinnati Reds. Dating to 1979, the Reds brought out green jerseys in honor of the Irish day of celebration. This size “44” jersey was worn by Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench in 1980. All of the identifiers are applied in single-color green tackle twill. The Reds team logo has a combination of green and white tackle twill. The jersey shows one-game use with light fraying. “BENCH” is arched atop the verso numbers in an oversized (4″) font. Green/white/green ribbed braiding surrounds the V-neck while the sleeve ends are tailored in finely ribbed green and white accentuators. A shamrock patch is affixed on the left sleeve. The inner tail is adorned with a Rawlings “The Mark of a Pro” size tag and “Set 1 1980” flag tag. Bench signed (“trong>9-10”) both sides of the jersey in blue felt tip.
