Description

What a day to remember in the history of U.S. sports! February 22, 1980 was the day the U.S. Olympic Hockey Team defeated the mighty Red USSR National Hockey Team in the 1980 Winter Olympics. Their victory was marked in the semifinal round by a score of 4-3. Sports Illustrated reported, “It may just be the single most indelible moment in all of U.S. sports history, one that sent the nation into a frenzy.”

The young American team then went on to defeat Finland for the gold medal. Presented is a photograph of the team that’s signed by 19 members in blue felt tip (“8-9”) including Phil Verchota; Steve Christoff; Dave Christian; Eric Strobel; Mark Pavelish; Dave Silk; Steve Janaszake; Bill Baker; Mark Johnson; Mike Eruzione; Jim Craig; Mark Wells; Neal Broten; Jack O’Callahan and others. The display measures in at 21×26 with the photo itself 16×20.
