At the end of the 1980 regular season, Georgia was the No. 1 team in the country. Having beaten Georgia Tech to finish 11-0, the Bulldogs earned a meeting with Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. Though the Fighting Irish were ranked No. 7, Notre Dame entered the game favored. However, the Bulldogs won the 1981 Sugar Bowl against the Fighting Irish.
Presented is a salesman sample of the 1981 Georgia Bulldogs National Championship Ring from that very Sugar Bowl. The top showcases National Champions Georgia. One shank shows Team, a helmet and a banner with their record 12-0. The other side features ROBINS -SUGAR BOWL ’81 and the score of the game. The interior has engraving HJ -ULT & R2800-8x. It is a size 11.5. It was made in Ultrium by Herff Jones Ring Company. More than likely, this was used as a salesman sample.
