Frustrated by the baseball strike, 1981’s All-Star Game was finally performed in August. The hosting Cleveland fans witnessed a dramatic, late-inning turn of events that once again distilled to a victory for the Senior Circuit. As the superstar selections convened, the National League squad paused to pen their autographs to this Official 1981 All-Star ball. Thereon repose 31 of them to include nearly all the principals and, as good fortune would have it, all from that team now enshrined are on this ball. (Editorially, at least three others are yet viable candidates.) In detailing these signatures, we report that two Phillies coaches signed. And though not selected in any capacity, they were likely invited by Phillies manager, Dallas Green. That qualified, we invite the reader to review this bounty of autographs which includes: Dallas Green (sweet spot), Mike Easler, Bill Buckner, trong>Steve trong>Carlton, Andre Dawson, Tim Raines, Pedro Guerrero, Lee Elia, Dick Williams, Dick Ruthven, Bill Virdon, Joel Youngblood, Dusty Baker, trong>Gary Carter, Bob Knepper, trong>Nolan Ryan, Burt Hooton, Bruce Benedict, Pete Rose, Bill Madlock, trong>Ozzie Smith, trong>Tom Seaver, Steve Garvey, George Foster, Davey Lopes, Terry Kennedy, trong>Mike Schmidt, trong>Bruce Sutter, Manny Trillo, Mike Ryan and Phil Garner.
