Mike Rozier was a Heisman-winning running back from Nebraska who, after a detour to the USFL, went on to a successful pro career in Houston and Atlanta. At the collegiate level, he was simply sensational, and it’s there that he wore this offered jersey. This all mesh jersey, made by Russell (size Large), features screened-on numerals and a sewn name in proper font. “M ROZIER” sits prominently atop the back numerals’ brilliant red tackle twill. The jersey shows good use with a number of hit marks to the shoulder area and at least three unrepaired holes. A letter from Bob Ihrig, a long-time Nebraska jersey collector, accompanies this jersey. The letter describes how the players didn’t like wearing these jerseys because they were uncomfortably warm (as thermo jerseys were designed to retain heat). They also complained the jerseys were too tight. The jersey was originally obtained through the Nebraska equipment manager, Glen Abbott, who worked with the team from 1969 until the 2002 Rose Bowl.
