Before the 1982 season, the Dodgers sent Davey Lopes to the Oakland Athletics (for minor leaguer Lance Hudson) to make room for rookie second baseman Steve Sax. With Oakland, Lopes teamed with Rickey Henderson to steal 158 bases, setting a new American League record for teammates. Henderson collected 130, Lopes 28.
Presented is a pullover Athletics jersey worn by Davey Lopes during his time there. It features a nice Oakland spell-out on the front in green/yellow tackle twill. The back features his name “LOPES” in green and his jersey “15” number in the same green/yellow tackle twill. Yellow and green ribbing accents the collar/sleeve ends. Note, the majority of manufacturing tagging was removed but it still features a fabric tag in the seam. Overall, shows wear throughout with soiling/loose threading present. The shirt originated from the equipment manager.
