1983-84 Michael Jordan UNC Practice-Worn, Signed Shoes W/LOA From Head Manager

SKU: 39175 Category:

Michael Jordan has worn only three manufacturers of shoes during his unprecedented career. These are by far the most limited. During his Carolina days, MJ and crew wore Converse shoes as the team had a contract with the shoe company. Everyone knows what Jordan did when he sported Nike kicks by the start of his NBA career. But during practice sessions at North Carolina, his Airness donned Adidas shoes. This pair of size “12 1/2” Adidas shoes was worn by Jordan during the 1983-84 campaign when he was readying himself for competition. The letter, which will accompany, states Jordan gave these personally to the Chuck Duckett who was the head manager for the ’82 championship squad. The LOA states “These shoes were not worn in games as Carolina wore Converse shoes by contract, however, they were worn during many practices and were Michael’s favorite shoes.”
As the story goes, part of the allure of MJ wearing these shoes was that he would someday sign a contract with Adidas. Imagine if he had? Both shoes, which have Carolina Blue stripes, show decent use. “23” is written on the inside tongue of both shoes in black marker for identification. Jordan signed “8” both in vintage marker. The letter signed by Duckett will be provided to the winning bidder. This may be one of the first and only pair of Jordan game-worn Adidas shoes on the open market.
