Description
George Brett was long admired as an intensely focused player. He worked his way to the top of the major league food chain by gaining an AL MVP Award in 1980. A bit later, 1984, he used this Louisville Slugger model P89 bat. The uncracked bat measures 34 1/2” and weighs 32 oz. It shows moderate use with blue and black ball transfer/hit marks. For purposes of a substantial grip, there’s heavy pine tar on the upper portion of the handle. Brett was still straying from the rules a year after the “Tar Wars” incident, the pine tar measures 20″ from the knob. This bat would be a violation by 2″ above the league’s legal limitation of 18″. Also to note, the knob features Brett’s uniform number and notation “GB5” in black felt tip.
