Ron Mix played by the rules. According to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s web site, Mix was guilty of only two holding penalties during a ten-year span. When his playing days were done, he was one of the first AFL offensive linemen to gain enshrinement. In 1984, the Chargers celebrated their 25th Anniversary with an alumni weekend. According to jersey authenticator Lou Lampson, a number of the AFL teams honored their past. As a professional memento, this Starter [size] “XL” jacket was given to Mix by the Chargers, and it comes with a letter from him attesting to its authenticity. The blue satin overgarment has a 25th Anniversary patch (silver spackle twill) on the left breast. “RON MIX” is embroidered on the right breast in gold. An NFL patch is affixed on the left sleeve while the collar holds a Starter NFL size tag. Mix’s letter (which attends) states: “I hope you enjoy this 1984 commemorative AFL 25th anniversary Charger jacket. The jackets were part of the anniversary celebration in 1984 by the original AFL teams. The jackets represent a true limited edition. With best regards, Ron Mix.”
