1985 Cal Ripken Game-Used Bat

During Ripken’s amazing streak he used this bat – in the 1985 season, to be precise. The model R161 Louisville Slugger (34 3/4″ and 34.4 ounces) bat shows great use with a light deadwood on the barrel back. An abundance of ball scuff marks appear on the barrel and cleat marks are also apparent. The handle is characterized by a slight crack, and a light layer of pine tar. Ripken’s “8” is written in black marker on both ends. The “8” on the knob has been marked out and “6” is written in blue marker. This leads us to believe Ripken used the bat first before teammate, Floyd Rayford, adopted it. A Hall of Fame bat from one of baseball’s true ambassadors.
