Lee Fogolin played for the Buffalo Sabres and Edmonton Oilers during his career. He won the Stanley Cup in 1984 and 1985. According to the provenance, presented is one of the hockey sticks that Fogolin used in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1985. It is well used and is a KOHO 221 model (custom pro) with his personal stamping “FOGOLIN” present. There’s black tape remnants throughout the blade. There are (8) signatures on the hockey stick with the highlights being Mark Messier and Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky signed it twice. All the signatures are faint.
The provenance letter states:
“I acquired The Edmonton Oiler’s Defenseman Lee Foglin’s hockey stick that he used in game 5 the Oilers won the cup on the night of May 30, 1985.
I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and my family was close friends with the Pocklingtons (Oilers Owner) and the Sathers (Oilers Coach) and I was best friends with their boys. I was lucky enough to have access to the Oilers locker room and was a regular fixture at home games. After the Oilers won the cup that night and the ice celebration moved to the locker room I wanted to get autographs and I asked Lee if I could have his stick and he handed it to me. Armed with Lee’s stick and a bic pen I started getting autographs best I could. I got Gretzky twice because I came back around to him in the sea of people and asked Wayne to sign it again. It was a long busy night and the reason I did not get more signatures on this stick, but oh well since I was also privileged enough to take a sip out of Lord Stanley’s Cup. – Sincerely yours, Edward Hunter Roberts”
