Description
The greatest player ever to wear a San Diego Padres uniform, Tony Gwynn won eight batting titles, five Gold Gloves and helped the inconsistent franchise to their first two World Series appearances.
In 1985, Gwynn was named with seven other Padres to the All-Star Game. San Diego was leading the NL West at the time, but finished the season in third place. Gwynn hit .339 after the start of August and finished the season with the fourth-highest average in the NL (.317).
The Hall of Famer put nice use in this gorgeous Padres pinstripe road shirt from 1985. The appropriate two-color orange/black “GWYNN” and his number “19” has been directly sewn on the back of the jersey, with “Wilson” and (size) 42 tag in the collar. The SD logo in two-color tackle twill (orange/black). The front features a swatch tag with 19 [jersey #] and 85 [year]. On the left sleeve are the initials “RAK” in memory of owner Ray Kroc who passed away in 1984. The team wore his initials from ’84 to ’86. Overall, a great jersey of a ’90s stud which features tremendous patches.
