1986 Steve Carlton Game-Used, Signed Bat

Scouts once wondered whether Steve Carlton’s arm was strong enough to be an effective major league pitcher. “Lefty” proved them wrong in a big way. Carlton went on to win 329 games en route to the Hall of Fame. Featured here is the 4-time Cy Young award winner’s Louisville Slugger P89 from the 1986 season. This piece was signed by Carlton in blue felt tip on the barrel (“7”). The barrel is also peppered with hit marks, red bat rack marks, and white ball transfer marks. The uncracked bat has a hint of pine tar on the handle. Carlton’s number “32” is written in black marker on the knob of this 35″, 31.4-oz. bat.
