1989 David Archer Game-Worn Chargers Helmet
Out of stock
Description
There wasn’t a league David Archer didn’t play in. NFL, check. World League of American Football, check. CFL, yet another check.
This Chargers helmet (WD1 Riddell padding) was worn by the journeyman quarterback when he played for the San Diego Chargers in 1989. Archer only played for the Chargers in 1989, and nobody else wore #15 for the Chargers until Todd Philcox assumed the number in 1997. Decent use is exhibited on the shell with numerous scuffs from Sunday contact. The Chargers unmistakable lightning bolts are decaled on the sides. "15" is stickered on the back of this size "L" helmet. "Archer" is written on a piece of masking tape on the inner ear hole. A "1989" recertification sticker is apparent on the inside as well as WD1 and 7 1/2 size stickers. Each of the helmet clips is from 1990, as is the mask, suggesting that both have been retro-fitted to the helmet, perhaps in preparation for further camp use in 1990.
The helmet is originally sourced from a former NFL equipment manager.
