1991 Barry Bonds Game-Worn Pirates Jersey

The Pittsburgh Pirates have had two time periods in the late 20 or so years – B.B. (before Bonds) and A.B. (after Bonds). The latter time period has not been fruitful for the Steel City. When Barry Bonds called Pittsburgh home, the Pirates were annually in contention and a World Series favorite. After his departure, the organization has not had a winning season and doesn’t see one on the horizon. Bonds donned this size “44” jersey in 1991 as he finished with a .292 average, 25 home runs and a 116 RBIs. This garment shows fine wear, with “Pirates 24” in black and gold on the front, and “Bonds 24” on the verso. Note that the nameplate was replaced by the team, and even though this minor modification would be undetectable to all but the most astute uniform collector, it’s important to report that that work was exacted by Pirates personnel, and not a restorationist. The team logo patch appears on the left sleeve. A Rawlings (size) “44” label in the tail has a “Set 1 1991” flag tag affixed at the right. Get this one autographed and watch the value climb even higher.
