Description

In June 1991, Toronto acquired Tom Candiotti from Cleveland in a trade to help their playoff run. Candiotti led the Blue Jays’ pitching staff with three complete games and a 2.98 ERA in 19 starts for a ballclub that had lost ace right-hander Dave Stieb to a season-ending injury. He was positioned to win the ERA title, as he had a major league-best 2.23 ERA on September 23, but gave up seven earned runs that night in California. In his first 16 starts with Toronto, his ERA was 2.21, a remarkable feat given the fact he threw the knuckleball and was working with two catchers, (Pat Borders and Greg Myers), who had never caught that pitch before.

Presented is a Tom Candiotti game worn Toronto Blue Jays jersey from 1991. Across the front chest in blue/white tackle twill is “BLUE JAYS”. The team logo patch is below on the left. A 1991 All-Star Game patch is featured on the left sleeve. His number “49” is on back below his name stitched in individual letters “CANDIOTTI”. The game jersey has a Wilson size 46 and year ’91 strip tag in collar. Overall, shows moderate use with thread fraying present.

An autographed 1992 Donruss card is also included of Candiotti. He signed it in blue felt tip (“9”).
