The Easton Assassin is considered one of the top three heavyweights of all time along with Muhammad Ali and Joe Louis, and aside from Louis, successfully defended his title more than any heavyweight in history. Known for the greatest left jab ever, he came out of the gate compiling a 48-0 record, falling just one short of Rocky Marciano’s record. This beautiful wedding gown white satin robe with red trim and tassels was worn by Holmes during a Heavyweight Championship bout against Evander Holyfield on June 19, 1992. The match would go its full 12 rounds, ending with a TKO win for Holyfield. Some would argue Holmes’ dehydration cost him an additional title, and slight stain remnants from post-fight “throwup” remain on the relic. This is the robe of a World Champion and it features exquisitely trimmed logos and ID’s, as well as impeccable provenance. It’s signed and dated by the champ, and is accompanied by a letter from Holmes on his stationary addressed directly to the vice president of the IBA, detailing its history. Important on a number of levels, this historic piece would be a vital and substantial addition to any sporting collection.
