1992 Pedro Martinez Game-Used, Signed Glove (Rookie Season)

The phenomenon known as Pedro Martinez not only defies logic but gravity as well. How can a guy who stands a mere 5′ 11″, weighing a meagre 170 pounds, generate the arm action to throw in the upper 90s? Not only is Pedro’s fastball a thing of beauty, but he’s also able to dominate the competition with his knee-buckling circle changeup. The future Hall of Famer used this SSK Pro model SP-111 black glove during his rookie season (1992). The 12 1/2″ glove, with a grid, web has the traditional dimple process (Dimple-II) embossed into the pocket. (This was how SSK made the majority of their gloves.) According to noted expert, Denny Esken, this type of glove design helped make the leather stronger. The SSK sports model glove has the traditional black/gold red Deermo Xtra label with PM45 handwritten in black felt tip on the SSK patch, which ascribes it to Pedro. Pedro gave his endorsement with a splendid silver paint pen signature (“10”) on the back index finger.
