Nolan Ryan finished his career having played in a major league record 27 seasons. He was the final active player from the 1960s to retire from Major League Baseball, outlasting Carlton Fisk (the final active position player) by three months. In five seasons with the Texas Rangers, Ryan had a 51-39 record, a 3.43 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, with 353 walks and 939 strikeouts in 840 innings over 129 starts.
Presented is a Rawlings professional model glove (model PRO B2F) Nolan Ryan used during the 1993 season on the pitcher’s mound. This was 4 out of 5 made for Nolan Ryan for the 1993 season including Spring Training. The glove is made from top grade tanned Horween leather bond with tanned rawhide laces and nylon stitching.
It measures in at 12.25″ and “Nolan Ryan” is stitched in blue cursive along the outer thumb for easy identification. A nice, rectangular Rawlings tag is sewn on the outside wrist area. It features a pro-style “Basket Web” and a “FastBack” wrist enclosure with a finger “Holdster” and adjustable wrist strap and a tri-laced palm hinge. The glove is malleable (opens and closes) and displays moderate use (even wear) throughout and features a well-worn/soiled pocket.
Highlighting the top tier collectible part of the glove, is the provenance as it originated from the equipment manager Joe Macko.
