1994 Derek Loville 49ers Super Bowl XXIX Game-Worn, Signed Jersey

Rarely is a Super Bowl game jersey offered, so score a major assist for AMI’s staff in mining this 1994 S.B. XXIX jersey of Derek Loville. This gem is extra special because the 49ers are the only team in Super Bowl history to wear a throwback jersey in the “Big Game.” This red throwback style was worn for much of the 1994 75th Anniversary season, and the 49ers decided to keep wearing them through the balance of the season. The jersey is bright red mesh in its entirety, except for the ribbed nylon V-neck. The drop shadow numbers (“24”) are reminiscent of the great 49ers’ uniform style of the 1950s. They are sewn on, as is the NOB, and show extensive puckering. The tail is trimmed, which means the Wilson Prestige tail label is not present, but Loville usually cut his jersey tails. The Wilson logo “W” is present on the left sleeve, accompanied by a lone stripe which rests against the custom elasticized cuff. Rounding out the rare beauty is the NFL 75th patch (note the conspicuous absence of the NFL neck shield not worn on throwbacks) in proper location beneath the major horizontal transverse seam. Loville has signed the front numeral “Derek Loville ‘94-95 World Champion.” The left shoulder has a repair (quite probably from an earlier season game), and both shoulders show various dings and scrapes from Super Bowl wear.
