1994 Jerry Rice Game-Worn 49ers Jersey with Team Letter

SKU: 16226 Category:

After the 49ers lost two consecutive championship games to the Dallas Cowboys in ’92 and ’93, the 49ers retooled their offense and defense for the ’94 season. Acquiring such talents as Deion Sanders and Ken Norton from Dallas, the 49ers could now contain the Cowboys’ potent offense. In 1994, Jerry Rice put up astronomical numbers, averaging 13 yards per reception while registering 13 TD’s, and 1,499 in total yards. Offered is Rice’s 1994 game-used ‘throwback’ jersey. In 1994 the NFL implemented the genre of the ‘throwback jersey’ to commemorate their 75th Anniversary. Although teams would wear them for two or three games, the 49ers (enjoying success early in the season and being superstitious) continued to wear their throwbacks throughout the ’94 season. This Rice jersey exhibits adequate wear. The sleeve and tail are trimmed to Rice’s specification. The “80” identifiers are sewn-on, white-on-black drop shadow tackle twill, indicative of the team’s mid-’50’s jerseys. The nameplate has “Rice” in single-color tackle twill zigzag stitched onto the nameplate. The 75th Anniversary patch is affixed in the upper left quadrant beneath the major horizontal transverse seam. Additionally, the small “W” Wilson identifier is on each sleeve. Jerry Rice has put a flawless autograph on the back, and to top it all off, a team letter from the 49ers is also included.
