1999 Dan Marino Game-Worn Dolphins Jersey

Dan Marino had a cannon arm and carried the Dolphins for nearly two decades. Despite never having a breakout running back or a Hall of Fame caliber wide receiver, Dapper Dan possessed most of the passing records upon calling it quits.

In 1999, Marino put the finishing touches on his remarkable career. At the age of 38, Marino was still able to toss 12 touchdowns. This jersey can be pinned to his final season because of the Nike labels on the sleeves. In the previous years, Marino wore Starter-made jerseys. In fact, this jersey has Starter tags in the inner side gusset. Nike swatches are sewn over Starter logos on both sleeves. Undoubtedly, the team carried over this jersey for use in 1999. There is a photo on Getty Images (dated Aug. 28, 1999/ 51618078) which matches this style, namely the sewn over Nike logos.

The use is consistent with puckering on the three-color drop shadow tackle twill numbers. Noticeable scratch marks are visible on the front "3". Modifications include open sleeves (apropos for Marino), stretch spandex under the arms down the sides and a tail void of manufacturer’s tags. A "98-52" label is sewn in the collar. "MARINO" is applied to a nameplate on back in two-color tackle twill. Dazzle cloth shoulders support a mesh body.

Overall a fine Marino gamer, which can be traced to his final season in the NFL.
