Description
Tony Gwynn could flat out hit. Pitchers were never able to fully figure out the rotund Gwynn. In 1999, Mr. Padre joined baseball’s most exclusive fraternity when he clubbed his 3,000th hit. This bat was used by Gwynn when he slapped his 2,951st hit. This Louisville Slugger model B267 bat shows remarkable game use with ball/hit marks (black) on the right and front barrel. An interesting modification on the blond bat (33 7/8″ and 30.1 ounces) is a Padres team emblem on the barrel. Blue rubberized tape is affixed on the handle which also sports light pine tar. “19” is written on the knob. Gwynn signed the bat and inscribed “#2951” in black felt tip. Authentication is secured with a Gwynn family letter which is signed by Tony’s wife, Alicia. PSA/DNA bat authenticator John Taube graded this bat as GU 8. A fine stick which honors one of baseball’s good guys.
