2000 Barry Bonds Game-Used SAM Bat (PSA GU 8)
Out of stock
Hank Aaron’s long-standing home run record is about to fall. Sport’s most controversial athlete, Barry Bonds, made an all-out assault on the record in the late ’90s. His consistency and patience at the plate are unparalleled, given that he rarely sees a hitable pitch. This SAM bat (34″ and 31.9 ounces) served Bonds during the 2000 season when he slammed a then-career high 49 home runs. Outstanding use is evidenced with numerous ball and stitch marks on the right and back barrel. Cleat and bat rack marks are also visible on this fine maple bat. A moderate coat of pine tar has been applied near the trademark. The bat was made in early 2000, so it was ready for the season. The following is written in fine black felt tip on the cupped barrel end: “34”, 31.9″, “1 27 00 (date)”, “B.B.” and “B1.” Bonds’ “25” is executed on the knob end in brilliant gold paint pen. A healthy 7″ crack appears on the handle. Overall an amazing relic from baseball’s main man. trong>PSA/DNA bat authenticator John Taube gave an eye-popping grade of trong>GU 8 on this one.
