Tom Glavine could be the last 300-game winner in some time. Gone are the days of a starting hurler consistently throwing into the eighth inning. Now a pitcher tosses six innings and leaves the rest to the bullpen. Glavine, though, has survived 20 Major League seasons with uncanny accuracy and guile. His fastball blazes in the low ’90s, but the venerable southpaw has remained an elite pitcher because of his finesse, keeping hitters off-balance.
This 12″ Mizuno model MZP 11 glove was used by Glavine during the 2000 season, and in the All-Star Game. Glavine signed the inside of the cork-colored mitt in black felt tip and added the notable inscription “2000 Season A.S. Game Used.” Photos on Getty Images match this exact model of glove used by Glavine and the caption on Getty Images actually dates this exact game and glove. A strap fastener is discreetly secured under the wrist strap. This answer to Wilson’s dial fasteners was used first by Glavine in 2000. The glove has deer skin lining. “TOM GLAVINE” is embroidered on the thumb in black stitching. Three Mizuno manufacturer’s logos appear on the glove: base of the thumb, webbing, and onn the wrist strap. The glove shows consistent pocket wear and staining where Glavine’s index finger was secured. A photo style match will be provided to the winning bidder, as will a full PSA/DNA letter. The PSA letter confirms that the inscription was indeed penned in Glavine’s hand. One of the finest Glavine gloves ever to become available to the hobby.
