Los Angeles Galaxy uberstar, David Beckham, is more than perhaps the greatest soccer player who ever lived. He is the modern-day Michael Jordan, one of a select few athletes who transcends his milieu.
There’s compelling photography suggesting that Beckman wore this highly attractive Galaxy road jersey (with captain’s armband) in the 2007 season. More specifically, the global icon saw action in this maize-and-blue Adidas model in either the Aug. 18 date against the New York Red Bulls, or the Dec. 8 match versus Wellington Phoenix in the post-season Oceania tour. (Beckham scored a goal in the latter match, which saw the Galaxy record an impressive 4-1 victory.) The gold armband was also produced by Adidas on behalf of FIFA, the group that governs world soccer; and like the jersey, it shows signs of light wear. Of particular note are the two black-and-silver stars that are stitched above the team logo on the left shoulder, which represent the Galaxy’s two league championships. The precise location of the MLS patch on the right arm of the jersey further validates this garment’s authenticity. The magical name “Beckman” and his number “23” are screen-pressed on the verso. Number 23? Yes, Beckham and Jordan are alike in more ways than one, you know.
