Presented from the Marcus Banks collection is this game worn Chris Paul New Orleans Hornets jersey from 2008-09 season.
Marcus Banks was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and he was the first Las Vegas (born) player to get drafted by the NBA. He played college basketball at the UNLV with the Runnin’ Rebels, where he was Co-Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. Banks was selected with the thirteenth pick in the first round of the 2003 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies, then traded to the Boston Celtics, along with Kendrick Perkins.
The jersey on the front left tail shows the “ADIDAS” manufacturers tag. Attached are four additional manufacturer’s tags with the jersey size “44”,”LENGTH +4″, “CLIMALITE”, and “2008-2009” on them. Across the front is “NEW ORLEANS” in yellow on purple tackle twill. Across the back is the player name “PAUL” in yellow tackle twill. Above the player name on back is the “Fleur De Bee” logo patch. Below that and on back is his number “3” in the same tackle twill. On the left breast is the official “NBA” embroidered logo. On the right it shows the special Captain’s C patch in yellow/purple tackle twill. Overall, it shows moderate wear with soft malleable tagging. Note, there’s mild surface wear from previous framing display.
The highlight was that it was autographed by Chris Paul for Banks on the verso numeral. Paul signed it in black felt tip (“7-8”).
Career Notes: Prior to the start of the 2008–09 season, Chris Paul signed a contract extension with the Hornets worth $68 million. On December 17, 2008, he set the NBA record for consecutive games with a steal at 106. On several occasions, he came within a few steals of recording a quadruple-double, including a 27-point, 10-rebound, 15-assist, and 7-steal game against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 26, 2009. His final averages were 22.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 11 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. Despite Paul’s individual accomplishments, New Orleans’ record fell from the year before and they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets.
