Description
This 2016 Wilson Graphite Blade 104 racket was part of Serena’s arsenal. This rackets would have been ready to go and use for court and match play. These rackets would get restrung and used for her next matches, always ready to go. This racket was used this year (2016) and more specifically during play at the Rio Summer Olympics. This one dates to the match on August 9, 2016
From that date 8/9/16 New York (local) CBS reported:
“Williams lost to Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 6-4, 6-3 in the third round in a real shocker Tuesday, ending the No. 1-seeded American’s bid to become the first tennis player to collect a pair of singles golds.
Williams did not go quietly.
Screaming “Come on!” after some points and “Ahhhh!” after others, waving her arms either to celebrate or remonstrate herself, she held, then broke, to pull even at 3-all in the second set. And then one of the greatest fighters in her — or any other — sport simply faded down the stretch.
Oddly so, too, with that five-double-fault game; she finished with eight. At one point in the game that ended with her getting broken to trail 4-3, Williams leaned forward and tapped her racket twice against the court. She did, however, refrain from smashing it the way she had a night earlier, cracking the equipment against her sideline chair during a ragged first set.”
Pictured is Serena using this Wilson racket during the Olympics in a photo style match. Each racket bears her name “SERENA” in gold foil on the inside of the Wilson racket. Inside the racket is the white tape reading “” which denotes coding M65LBs – X64LBs and the date @Aug 09m 17:00. These were sent to her. There is also a Wilson hologram near where the grip tape begins on the handle. This was obtained directly from her camp and out of her tennis bag, there is not better racket to include in your collection.
