Angels superstar outfielder Mike Trout is truly remarkable and on pace to be on the list of the greatest baseball players ever. At the time of this writing, Trout is only adding to his amazing career. He leads the majors in walks (99), intentional walks (20) and on-base percentage (.459). He was second in OPS (1.083) to Boston’s Mookie Betts (1.092). Trout is hitting .309 (115 for 372) with 30 home runs, 60 RBIs and 82 runs in 109 games. He has stolen 21 bases on 23 attempts.
In recent years, the popularity of baseball has come into question and the commissioner Rob Manfred has commented that only Trout can help it. But in reality as collectors we know baseball doesn’t need to be saved. It is alive in well in the memorabilia industry. In particular, Trout rookie cards are skyrocketing in value and his game used items…well, here we go.
Presented is a pair of his game worn cleats from last season 2017. Last year, Trout led the team in runs (92), home runs (33), stolen bases (22), walks (94), and in batting average (.306).
They are Nike size 11.5 red and white high tops with outstanding use. They are constructed of red synthetic leather with camo trim and white vinyl toe. The interior is lined with a camo padded mesh with a red mesh tongue. On the tongue in white is his namesake “Trout” in artistic white. The soles are high impact plastic with 9 stainless steel cleats for traction.
The back flaps have the sayings “STAY SHORT” and “DON’T GET BIG”. These are his at the plate mantra’s. It’s a reminder, and it means to stay short with his swing and not expand his strike zone. Under the flaps are other important details personal to him including “RESPECT” and “856” his hometown area code.
They tremendous use via a nice thin line of infield dirt can be seen on the surface of each cleat. Each shoe is autographed on the toe box with the notation “17 G/U” for the season of game use.
In addition to the J.T. Sports letter of authenticity, the cleats include a letter of authentication and matching hologram on each shoe from Anderson Authentics. They hold exclusive equipment contracts with many players they work with (including Mike Trout) and have an extensive inventory including other players in their catalog.
Authentication: PSA/DNA Letter (J.T. Sports) & Anderson Authentics.
