Description

A Roberto Rivellino Game-Used #11 Brazil National Team Shirt from the July 18, 1971 FIFA Friendly match between Brazil & Yugoslavia in front of 138,575 spectators at the Maracana Stadium.  This match marked Pele’s final appearance for the Brazil National Team.  This garment was an original piece of Brazil squad equipment, and was worn on the pitch by legendary midfielder Roberto Rivellino.  The son of Italian immigrants from Macchiagodena (Isernia), he was famous for his large moustache, bending free kicks, long range shooting, accurate long passing, vision, close ball control and dribbling skills.  He also perfected a football move called the “flip-flap”, famously copied by Romario, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Cristiano Ronaldo in recent years.  A former attacking midfielder, he is widely regarded as one of the most graceful football players ever, and among the best midfielders of his generation. With the close control, feints and ability with his left foot, Diego Maradona named Rivellino among his greatest inspirations growing up.  In 2004, he was named by Pele in the FIFA 100 list of the world’s greatest living players.  Upon close inspection, you will come to find the following signs of use throughout this garment:  There is a small hole where stitching has come undone to the back right shoulder.  Another small hole in the fabric just below.  Athleta label is intact and colors remain vibrant. Some very minor fraying to the stitching around the squad numbers. No heavy staining is evident, although some faint markings are visible.  Normal aging to the shirt has occurred.  No significant structural damage to be found.  Normal signs of use and all the hallmarks of a garment from this era.
