Abner Doubleday Signed Handwritten Letter – COA JSAGo Back
General Abner Doubleday served in the United States during the American Civil War. His war accomplishments were many as in the defense of Fort Sumter he fired the first shot and he was involved in the famous battle at Gettysburg. Following the war, he would patent the cable car railway and was even credited with inventing the game of baseball (although dismissed by baseball historians).
Presented is a handwritten letter from Doubleday to a general from a period of time when he was still in service (November 27, 1870). In black ink, it presents basic conversational rapport toward the general. It is one page folded in half and therefore written in four quarters. Signed A. Doubleday with salutation at the end.
