1939 Original Hall of Fame Induction Wire Photo. This is a one of kind picture that was actually taken at the Ceremony.
The opening ceremonies at Cooperstown brought out a collection of baseball characters, the likes of which would never be seen again. From ballplayers to owners, and everyone in between, the ceremonies marked the end of the first century of baseball and the beginning of the modern era. The most famous moment from that day was the photograph of all the living inductees, save one, everybody’s favorite malcontent Ty Cobb. Ty was late to the ceremony and missed out on the photo. Offered is an original wire photo picturing the other 10 inductees, in all their ancient glory. There is Wagner, Alexander, Speaker, Lajoie, Sisler, Johnson, Collins, Ruth, Mack and Young. The 8″ x 10″ wirephoto retains remnants of the original paper tag, and is in overall EX-MT+ condition.
