Description

Joe Walker was an American pilot and physicist who reached the edge of outer space on two separate X-15 aircraft flights in 1963. Walker passed away in a tragedy when his F-104 Starfighter crashed during a publicity photo shoot (June 8, 1966).

This spectacular piece, highlighting his career highlights is a First Day Cover (FDC) cachet. Fully decorated on the front/back it depicts NASA related images, a central Edwards Air force Base mark and various stamps. Walker signed the envelope in black felt tip pen (“7” some hand transfer). Items signed by Walker are scarce, and autographs in philatelic material are especially rare.

Authentication: JSA Full Letter.
