Description

Presented is a vintage 1915 score card featuring two teams in the American League. This game was held in the heat of the summer, August 13, 1915.

The highlight team is the World Series Champion, Boston Red Sox. They beat the Phillies in five games to win the Series. This was a team that yes, Babe Ruth was a part of as a pitcher.

The team they faced up against on this score card was the 1915 Washington Senators. They finished in fourth place in the American League (85-68). Their manager was Hall of Famer, Clark Griffith.

The card was scored in pencil and showcases the details of the Red Sox 3-2 victory over the Senators. In the victory, Hall of Famers Tris Speaker and Harry Hooper scored runs (along with Duffy Lewis). Walter Johnson was scheduled to pitch on the losing side but Joe Boehling and Doc Ayers (L) did the best they could in the loss.

The card measures 10.5×13.5 (approx.). The back page of the fold-out has some mild storage wear. Other interesting advertising squares on the card include an Anti-Suffrage by Women, chocolates, taxis, Atlantic Clock Co., shoes, Dr. Swett’s Root Beer, Boston Smokers (cigars), Boston hotels and Neapolitan ice cream.
