Description

Frequently debated, but rarely refuted – the mightiest assembly ever fielded under one major league banner was the 1927 Yankees. Ultimately, seven of its stars are now emblazoned in Cooperstown permanence. It was one of those seasons when all the componentry ran like a Swiss watch. The major stars, as anticipated, performed brilliantly. But perhaps it was the supporting cast that year, rising to exact their best, that elevated the ’27 Yankees from one of the best to the ultimate team in the annals of the game. And it was in the course of that elevated 1926-27 campaign that the Yankees legend, Babe Ruth did some fierce home run damage.

Presented is a vintage Official Reach American League Ban Johnson red-and-blue stitch baseball which dates to the peak period of 1926-27 of the Yankees. It was signed on the sweet spot by “The Sultan of Swat”, Babe Ruth in steel tip fountain pen (“9”) with his period “Babe” quote mark signature. The baseball shows evident toning and a top coating for preservation.
