Barney Ross/Jim Braddock Signed Dinner Program

Out of stock

SKU: 16374 Category:

On December 7 (appropriately enough), 1943, New York’s Astor Hotel hosted a testimonial dinner honoring Barney Ross, 1942’s Boxer of the Year. Ross posted a commendable record in the ring, and ultimately earned enshrinement into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. During the war, however, he distinguished himself as a combat Marine in the South Pacific. Here offered is a program that was provided to the guests for that special dinner. Its cover was pencil-autographed by the guest of honor, Barney Ross, and as well, by Jim Braddock. (Braddock identified himself as “Lt.” even though we can’t substantiate his commission in the armed forces.) In what appears to be Ross’ hand is the salutation, “Good luck to Bobby.” Both of the signatures are “8” in quality.
