“Baseball as America” Book w/100+ Autographs

The National Baseball Hall of Fame, in collaboration with National Geographic, sponsored this handsome, 320-page volume in 2002. Titled Baseball as America, it’s essentially a pictorial tour through the game’s history, and it’s awash with photographs and captivating illustrations. The central appeal of this particular copy, however, is its marvelous abundance of famous autographs. It quickly becomes evident that most of these signings were captured in the far west as many of these are players rostered with the Padres, Mariners and such. However, there’s a generous representation of Hall of Famers – Earl Weaver, Rollie Fingers and Bobby Doerr, to mention a few. As well, there’s a meaningful bounty of celebrities and other sporting stars here. Typifying are such notables as Hal Linden, Pat Boone and Joe Montana. All of these autographs were placed in felt tip and, with very few exceptions, all are strong, clean signatures.
