“Baseball in the ’50’s” Signed Book (Aaron, Mays, Williams, DiMaggio, Drysdale, Mantle)

The prolific author, Donald Honig, released this work in 1987. Titled “Baseball in the ’50’s”, this 238-page monograph is essentially a captioned pictorial of that decade’s array of stars, hopefuls and journeymen. There are literally hundreds of photos in this book, most of which are fresh renderings – a departure from conventional ‘public relations’ images. The central feature in this offered volume, however, is its bounty of autographs penned by the veterans of that marvelous era. With a few duplicates, it holds over a hundred different to include not fewer than 40 different Hall of Famers. Further, all of these signings were very responsibly placed, and project cleanly to a strength of “9-10”. An incomplete list of the Cooperstown-enshrined who signed this book includes Billy Herman, Richie Ashburn, Bobby Doerr, Johnny Mize, Hank Aaron, Stan Musial, Willie Mays, Luke Appling and Frank Robinson. And among the more hobby-pursued autographs, we cite the inclusion of Ted Williams (“10”), Joe DiMaggio (“10”), Mickey Mantle (“10”, with notated “No. 7”) and Don Drysdale (“10”). The book itself is in Near Mint condition with a NM/MT dust jacket (protected by a transparent vinyl sleeve).
