Offered is a wonderful signed vintage photograph depicting Robinson in his prime. At the pinnacle of his career, he compiled an astounding 128-1-2 record with 84 knockouts, and amazingly, in over 200 fights, was never physically knocked out. He would leave the professional ranks with 109 KOs, and finish with a record of 175-19-6. No less a figure than the undisputed Greatest, Muhammad Ali, hailed him as “the king, the master, my idol.” In 1997, the venerated bible of pugilism, The Ring, endorsed Ali’s contention by naming Sugar Ray, “pound for pound, the best boxer of all time”, followed two years later by the Associated Press, which declared him both the greatest welterweight and middleweight boxer of the century. His genuine signature in this format is difficult at best, Dynamic and poignant, this poignant 8″ x 10″ photo features a fine signature from Robinson conscientiously rendered in black ballpoint in the area affording the highest contrast.
