UFC 10: Seeing Is Believing was a MMA event held by the UFC on July, 12 1996 at the Fairgrounds Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.
UFC 10 marked the UFC’s return to the tornament format (which was removed in favor of single bouts at UFC 9). The card featured an eight man tournament, as well as two alternate bouts in case of an injury, and to fill time for the pay-per-view broadcast.
UFC 10 featured the first appearance of Mark Coleman, who beat fan favorite Don Frye to win the tournament. It was also the first time that Bruce Buffer announced the fights inside the Octagon, replacing Rich Goins. (Bruce’s brother Michael Buffer had announced at UFC 6 and UFC 7. However, Rich Goins came back for UFC 8 and UFC 11.
This black shirt was worn by referee Big John McCarthy in the octagon for several of the match-ups in UFC 10. It come’s directly from Big John’s private collection. The manufacturer tagging in the collar shows it is Body Alive [XL] – the verso also has a custom design from Body Alive. The front chest features the event details – U.F.C. X and Body Alive logo- Seeing is Believing embroidered in white. For authentication it was autographed on the front in silver paint pen by him with the inscription, “UFC 10 WORN – July 12, 1996.
