Big John McCarthy Fight-Worn, Signed Shirt UFC 32 Showdown at the Meadowlands

UFC 32: Showdown in the Meadowlands was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey on June 29, 2001.

The headlining for the event was Tito Ortiz Vs. Elvis Sinosic in the first Light Heavyweight Championship Bout which was previously called “Middleweight”. Tito came out on top defeating Elvis by TKO “punches and elbows” 3:32 into the first round. Ricco Rodriguez made his first appearance during this event, he would later become the Heavyweight Champion. This poster displays the World Trade Center in the back ground, three months later they were destroyed in the 9/11 attacks.

This black polo style shirt was worn by referee Big John McCarthy in the octagon for several of the match-ups in UFC 32. It come’s directly from Big John’s private collection. The manufacturer tagging in the collar shows it is Ping [XL] The front chest features the event details – ZUFFA PRESENTS UFC 32 & Showdown at the Meadowlands embroidered in white.  For authentication it was autographed on the front in silver paint pen by him with the inscription, “WORN – June 29, 2001.
