Gazzari’s on The Sunset Strip. was owned by Bill Gazzarri, also known as, “The Godfather of The Sunset Strip.” The club was popular during the 60s swinging discotheque era until the late 80s heavy metal era. Gazarri’s helped launch the careers of many artists from Sonny & Cher to Van Halen.
Bill Gazzari’s Worn Hat -with Video
The hat made by Golden Gate Hat Company was undoubtedly owned and worn the Godfather of Rock-n-Roll. “Bill Gazzari” is embroidered on the interior of the hat. Gazzari was never or very rarely seen without this relic on top of his head and it became Gazzari’s signature STATUS. Without this hat, Gazzari would not be Gazzari. Photo matches and styles are seen throughout the video’s.
This artifact is perhaps the most significant in the entire L.A. Music Awards collection. Bill Gazzarri was the LEGITIMATE Godfather of Rock n’ Roll. He operated his famous venues from 1960 until his death in 1991. To pout that in perspective, the average life expectancy of an L.A. Night club today is only 2 months. He kept his going for over 30 years. Without Bill Gazzarri, there would be no Van Halen, Motley Crue, The Doors, or Warrant, plus dozens of other successful rock bands that ALL got their starts in his club. He showcased over 10,000 bands. He was a legend and was never given proper credit for his influence in the music business. The purchase of the hat also includes a VHS original copy of the last known on-camera interview with the Godfather himself.
Seen in the LIVE VIDEO below is what we believe to have been a definite photo style of this hat. He may have had a few hats during his many years alive on the planet, and certainly it’s one he wore during his time on the Gazzari Stage.
If you have time to watch the Video or fast track it to the end, you will see the FAMOUS Miss Gazzari Dance Contest! Yes, we have live footage. It does exist.
