Description

In his first time in a Celtics uniform in the Boston Garden, Bill Walton received one-minute standing ovation from the Boston home crowd walking onto the court for his first exhibition game in 1985.

Walton played a career-high 80 games for Coach KC Jones and the Celtics during the 1985–86 season. Walton averaged 7.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 19 minutes, and finished with a career-high 56.2 field goal percentage. Providing a reliable backup to Kevin McHale and Robert Parish, and playing alongside Larry Bird, Danny Ainge and Dennis Johnson, Walton received the 1986 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award en route to the NBA championship. He became the only player to have won an NBA Finals MVP, Sixth Man Award, and regular season MVP.

Presented is a Boston Celtics practice worn jersey by Bill Walton from his time with the team. It is a green/white reversible jersey. The front was signed by Walton in green felt tip (“8-9”) with the inscription, “Thanks For Your Help – Celtics Champs ’86”. The #5 jersey shows great wear and features Sand Knit tagging both size X-Large and Celtics Exclusivity on one side (with wash instructions flap). The jersey also features black backing residue from a previous display.
