Here offered is a Boston Red Sox Ted Williams Bronze Statue by Artist Armand LaMontagne
Bronze bust of Ted Williams by noted artist Armand LaMontagne. The bust pictures Williams as he appeared during his playing days and features the legendary Hall of Famer wearing a Boston Red Sox cap. Signed by the artist along the rear of the base. While we do not how many of these Ted Williams busts were produced by LaMontagne, the number is certainly quite low, as we cannot recall having seen more than one or two others. Armand LaMontagne (1939- ) is one of the nation’s foremost artists, with two of his most famous works, life-size statues of Babe Ruth and Ted Williams, on permanent display at the Baseball Hall of Fame. Additional works of his can be found in many important venues, including the Basketball Hall of Fame, the New England Sports Museum, the Patton Museum, and the Gerald Ford Museum. LaMontagne had a particularly close association with Ted Williams and he created a number of notable paintings and sculptures of Williams, including many that commemorated Williams’ other great love: fly-fishing. This bust is a truly impressive work and one that would be among the highlights of any Ted Williams or fine-art collection. The bust (9 inches high) is mounted on a square marble-like base (4 inches high), both of which are in good condition.
