Description
On May 2, 1944, Baseball Hall of Famer Ted Williams was appointed second lieutenant in the US Marine Corps Reserve. He was stationed in Hawaii during WWII. On January 1. 1951 he was promoted to captain in the Marine Corps Reserve. He was recalled to active duty and served in the Korean area in 1953 with the 1st Marine Air Wing.
Presented is a classic service photo of Ted Williams at Squantum, MA Naval Air Station. It was signed and inscribed with his military rank, “Capt. USMCR” in silver paint pen (“9-10”). The photo measures 19.5×23 (in matte) with the overall display at 29×34. The frame shows signs of wear. The display comes in “as in condition”.
