Description
After joining the White Sox, Carlton Fisk helped the team win its first American League Western Division title in 1983. His .289 batting average, 26 home runs, and 86 RBI, as well as his leadership on the young team, helped him to finish third in the MVP voting (behind Baltimore teammates Cal Ripken, Jr. and Eddie Murray). Fisk also caught LaMarr Hoyt that season, the 1983 Cy Young Award winner. Fisk played poorly in Chicago’s loss to the Baltimore Orioles in the 1983 ALCS, hitting .176 with zero runs batted in.
Presented is a Carlton Fisk game issued baseball catcher’s mitt glove. The glove was made for use on the field with his specifications. His jersey number “72” can be found in black felt tip on the exterior pocket portion for identification. It is a Wilson A2403 model that shows very mild if any use with a slightly malleable nature (opens/closes) hence it has the game-issued designation. The tan glove is constructed of Wilson’s top grade leather. It also showcases all the proper stamping within the pocket with the model and other details. A nice, circular Wilson tag is sewn on the outside thumb area. The highlight is it was autographed three times by Fisk in black marker (“7”). Twice on the exterior and once in the pocket.
