Description
Armando “Chick” Corea is an American jazz and jazz fusion pianist, keyboardist, and composer. His compositions “Spain”, “500 Miles High”, “La Fiesta” and “Windows”, are considered jazz standards. As a member of Miles Davis’s band in the late 1960’s, he participated in the birth of jazz fusion. In the 1970’s he formed the fusion band Return to Forever. With Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, and Keith Jarrett, he has been described as one of the major jazz piano voices to emerge in the post-John Coltrane era.
Children’s Songs is an album by Jazz pianist Chick Corea, released in 1984. Children’s Songs mainly consists of short songs with simple themes. There is little development in the pieces, which capture a variety of melodies and moods. Corea began writing the first song in 1971. In the preface of the annotated version Corea stated that he aimed “to convey simplicity as beauty, as represented in the Spirit of a child”.
